the irony wasn't lost on me tonight when a couple brought a two year old to an 8 pm screening of the r rated 'idiocracy' - a movie about how our society is doomed to be destroyed by the stupidest among us.
and speaking of the stupidest among us, it dawned on me recently that my children may grow up never knowing who woody woodpecker is.
whereas i, and many people my age, spent nearly afternoon watching the violent misadventures of walter lantz's prickish bird - my guys are striding towards 5 years old without having seen frame one of woody's animated ass. in fact, if i marched into their room right now and dropped the world-famous trademark woodpecker laugh on them, chances are it would frighten them considerably.
mostly because they're sound asleep - but you get what i'm saying.
